KIRKWOOD, William Douglas “Doug”
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Muriel Jane Kirkwood (August, 2016). Much loved father of Michael (Darlene), Peter, Sandra (Richard), and David (Susan). Cherished grandfather of Scott (Lindsay), Julie (Zane), Robert, Ashley, Nicholas, Jordan, David Jr. and great-grandfather of Morgan. Survived by his loving sisters Marion Nelligan and Patricia Campbell. Doug will be fondly remembered for his love of family, golf and sailing. He was a founding member of the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club, a member Millcroft Golf Club and the Probus Club of Burlington. Special thank you to the staff of Joseph Brant Hospital and the Hamilton General Hospital for their care and compassion. Cremation and private family service have taken place. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 5-8p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Doug are asked to consider the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation or The Carpenter Hospice.
