High School Scholarship Program

When Wilbert Smith and his sister Jeanette settled in Burlington in 1938, the siblings (both licensed funeral directors) set out to make a difference in their newly adopted community.

Since that time, our family’s commitment to community service has been one of our hallmarks, and preserving this legacy will always be of utmost importance to Smith’s.

Our High School Scholarship Program began in 1938, when there was only one high school in Burlington (Central High School)! We expanded the program as our community grew, and it now encompasses every high school (both public and Catholic) in Burlington, Grimsby and Stoney Creek.

We are proud to present these scholarship awards to a graduating student, who in their post-secondary education will be pursuing a career that focuses on helping and caring for others (i.e. social services, healthcare, etc.). This is our way of recognizing and celebrating the commitment to excellence by youth in our communities. We sincerely congratulate the inspiring and very deserving Smith’s scholarship recipients over the years
