Obituary for Russell Archibald Griffiths

Russell Archibald Griffiths
Russell “Russ” Griffiths, 88, died on April 26, 2018 just 11 days shy of his 89th birthday. He passed away due to complications of esophageal cancer and dementia, lovingly surrounded by all his family members.
Russ is survived by his wife Margaret, sons Mark (Helen) and Gordon (Donna) and daughters Leslie (Chris), Susan (David) and Lynn (Jeff) as well as seven grandchildren.
Russ was born May 7, 1929 in Montreal, Quebec and spent his youth living in Verdun and enjoyed summers on Heron Island. He was married in 1954 and moved to Chateauguay, Quebec starting a family and stayed there until 1977 when they relocated to Ontario. A certified accountant, Russ had a great career that started with Northern Electric in Montreal and spanned 40 years by the time he retired with Nortel Toronto in 1985. For the past 20 years Russ and his wife Margaret have lived in Millcroft in Burlington, Ontario.
Possessed with a great sense of humour Russ was generous, gracious, polite and was well known by family and friends to be eager to help any and all for a repair or home improvement project. As well, later in life Russ proved to be a talented wood carver.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 7, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333). For those who wish, donations in memory of Russ can be sent to The Carpenter House Hospice.
