Obituary for Shirley Jane Hewitt

HEWITT, Shirley Jane (nee Noulty) -
Peacefully at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington on Thursday, March 24, 2011 in her 80th year. Shirley, beloved wife of Carman, 60 years this July. Loving mother of Steven, Sheryl, Wayne, Wendy, Cindy and Linda. Dear grandmother of Ashley, Alisha and Matthew. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Gladys, stepfather George and brother Ed.

Born and raised in London, Ontario Shirley went to work at Westinghouse where she met and married Carman. In 1966 with kids in tow the couple set path to Burlington where on Ward Road they soon became and remain close friends with many of the neighbours. The home was soon a regular gathering place for extended family and friends. Shirley eventually joined Alchem (Nalco) where she was a dedicated employee, respected and fondly thought of by her co-workers, her friends. Her drawer often held fine things for those fine people. Mother loved to laugh and reminisce about the many trips she and Carman took to Arizona, Florida and Vegas. She was a quiet and gentle soul, greatly loved for her warm and giving nature. She will be missed by all.

Memorial visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME at 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), Burlington (905-632-3333) on Tuesday March 29th from 5-8 pm. Cremation has taken place.
