It is with great sorrow to announce Sandra Lynne Melhado passed peacefully with her family and some friends around her on May 30, 2019. Sandy turned 58 years old in April.
Sandy is survived by her brothers Bob and Allan (Heidi) and sisters Nancy (Bob) and Beverley and brother-in-law John Umolac. She is predeceased by her parents Robert and Agnes Williams and sister Karen.
Sandy will be greatly missed by her husband Alan, and her four sons James (Megan), Ryan (Nikita), Scott (Laura) and Craig.
Sandy was blessed to experience two grandchildren Lochlan and Ronan from Jay and Megan. She was also able to take great joy in learning of yet another on the way from Ryan and Nikita.
Sandy kept a very loving and active closeness with her many nieces and nephews. She was truly that “special aunt” to all. Sandy and her two nieces Barbara and Jennifer grew up in Ancaster and Hamilton like sisters.
Sandy worked in the Health Care Services as a PSW for many years. Sandy got very involved in energy healing becoming a Reiki Master. She gained the ability to help people physically and emotionally.
Sandy developed strong sewing skills at an early age. A gift she used through all stages of her life. We all have something handmade by her. Always a special surprise and beautifully made.
Throughout her various stages of illness, Sandy kept a very positive attitude while fighting hard at home or at the hospital. She is a great example of bravery to take into our own life lessons.

The last time I had a visit with Sandy her son Craig was there and her sister Nancy, Sandy was very tired and kept closing her eyes, despite what she was going through there was a smile on her face.....bringing different people together gave her such joy. It warmed her just knowing we were there reminiscing. We will continue to gather and stay connected for you and because of you. You were my very dear sister, friend, and Aunt to my children, our lives are forever changed. We miss you more than you will ever know. We love you Sandy. May you Rest In Peace.

Sandy, thank you for being a great friend, Teacher and birth support with Noah. I was terrified in giving birth a 2nd time and you gave me faith in achieving such an amazing birth at home. I'm so happy to have shared great times with you and will forever miss our special times together. Live on my sister, in the spirit world. Cast your wings and fly. With love, Tracy

Parts of a poem by Belinda Stotler on losing her sister....

I find it so very hard to believe
That you have gone and I must grieve;
I call out your name-you answer not,
And I look for you in every familiar spot.
Everything seems so strange and surreal,
I ask everyday is it a dream or real?

Where are the soft blue eyes of affection?
Where is the laughter and talk of childhood reflection?
Where is the loving care when I was sick or sad?
Where is the generous soul for which I was glad?
Where is the forgiving and understanding heart?
Where are the bonds that were there from the start?

I miss all the little ways you showed you cared,
For there were so many good moments we shared.
Looking back on my life’s assorted scenes,
I realized you taught me what love truly means;
You were my trusted confidante and best friend,
On whose loving support I could always depend.

Can we believe what others say of a better place,
Where our beloved ones rest in Gods warm embrace;
I should be happy you’re free of pain and sorrow,
And rejoice that you’ll always have tomorrow.
How can I then be so heartbroken and selfishly cry,
“Return to me from that peaceful place where you lie!”

But I know your kind soul wants no tears or pain,
Instead you’d want warm memories and love to remain.
My hearts only solace is one day I will see you as before,
Beckoning me to come join you on that white distant shore.

Miss you my “ Sister Aunt”

I shall miss you dear Sister. I will miss your cheerful smile and loving and caring attitude. I love and admire you. I admire your many talents , in the garden and in the kitchen and in the sewing room but most of all your talent for making and keeping relationships with people of all ages and situations. Many people love you and you will be remembered. Nancy

After knowing Sandy for nearly 40 years, it is reassuring to know that she was surrounded by her loving family and friends till the very takes a very special person to develop a large network of people and to keep engaged with that group for many decades. Sandy is an inspiration, a true fighter of her beliefs and a positive role model for many of us...we will all miss her friendly smile, her quick wit and her positive spin on life.
