Obituary

Our sweet, funny, spicy Meg passed away at home cocooned in the love of her family, friends & dogs. Megan's journey was one of adventure, determination, personal growth and love. She is survived by her husband Gerhard (Gerrie) Swart and family, her dad Ed Lewis, momma Janet and sister Charlotte, pups Lainey and Toby. She leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins of the Fortier, Lewis, McNiven, Blake, and Gerstenecker clans. Predeceased by her grandparents Mary and John Fortier, Catherine and Bill McNiven, Clarke Lewis, and pups Stella and Panda. Deep appreciation to all of Meg's friends, family, doctors, nurses and support staff for their strength, comfort and love.
She wanted the best in all of us to shine.
Sleep baby, sleep ❤

I'm lucky to have met Megan about 7 years ago in South Korea, and fortunate enough to have spent some time with her more recently. She was bright, bubbly and lovely as ever. She will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to her family and those who knew her.

Janet and Ed and Charolette I am so very very sad and sorry to see this news.
I have so many memories of Meygan, Death Cab for Cutie, 16th birthday party, laughing and enjoying life, hanging out at the dog!!
Such an incredibly wonderful human! Grabbing life by the horns and doing all that she loved!
Thanks for bringing this ray of light onto the planet!
Sending you all so much love, know that we are thinking of each of you.
With so much love Kate, Ken, Griffin, Wiccem and Quayen.

Dear Gerrie, Ed, Janet, and Charlotte: I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I met Megan at a young adult cancer retreat and we bonded immediately over our shared love of travel, service work, and cycling. She had a true and honest spirit. About a year and a half after the retreat she reached out to me to share how our meeting had affected her and her journey. I am grateful to have gotten to know her.
