AHRENS, Kenneth Wilfred

Passed away peacefully with family by his side at The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the age of 74. Friend and beloved husband of Marsha (nee McDiarmid) for 48 years. Loving father of Kevin Hickson, Kelly Hickson (Roger Ram) and Coreen Ahrens (Jerome Christensen). Proud Grandpa to Kyle, Karyn, Emily, Aric, Lincoln and Parker. Predeceased by parents Wilfred and Isabelle. Survived by sisters Sharon Arat (Ricardo) and Susan O'Neil (Danny, 2007) and their families. Very dear friend to June Cunningham, Kate (Mike), Robin, Chanti, and Bob McNaughton and Dave, Carolyn, Nicole, Nate Rokosh (Dawn Palin Rokosh). Ken worked 35 years for Stelco in Hamilton. Ken was a very was a very active member of Tansley United Church, past president of the Probus Club of Burlington and the Skyway Seniors Golf Club. He was a member of the Burlington Curling Club and spent many years as a Burlington Teen Tour Band Booster. Ken loved life and cherished many friendships. His positive outlook, fun loving spirit and caring nature had a positive impact on so many. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed curling but his greatest love was time with his family. In keeping with Ken's wishes, Cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Tansley United Church, 2111 Walkers Line, Burlington, on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation an hour prior to the service. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to The Carpenter Hospice or Joseph Brant Wellness House would be greatly appreciated.
