Sadly, John Lindley passed away suddenly on Friday 20 March at Hamilton General Hospital. Anyone who knew him and loved him knows he will be greatly missed by his partner Peter Defreitas, his wife Joan, his children, Stephen (m. Cathy) of Toronto; Douglas (m. Kay) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Jane (Meyer) of Atlanta, Georgia; and grandchildren, Meagan, Kellen, Josh and Jack. John also leaves behind his beloved and gorgeous perennial garden.
John graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College (University of Guelph) in 1953, followed by a distinguished multinational business career with Campbell’s Soup Company, culminated by his own successful and popular business, Pickletree Farms, in Burlington, Ontario.
At John’s request there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Here's a link to an incredibly funny video of my Dad taken just 1 month ago in Key West. Please watch, enjoy and remember him this way.😊

Oh Jane what a WONDERFUL video - he had the best humour and zest for life - as does your mom. What a man - truly great pictures which show a life well & fully lived. Thinking of you all at this time Ellie xxxxxxx

To the family and friends who loved John Lindley. My sincere condolence and sorrow for your unexpected loss of a great guy. I did not know John as well as most of you. I met John through Jane his daughter. We spent two long weekends in February the last two years in Key West with John and Peter. They welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like family. We had great food, conversation and bike rides throughout Key West. One of my favorite memories is the video we made of John singing and dancing. It surely went viral by now! I wish you all the strength in this hard time.

Deepest sympathies to John’s loving family at this sad time. He was a fond classmate from Burlington High School of my husband , David Oram. With kindest regards, Eva Oram

We are so sorry to hear about Papo

He will be truly missed. Papo was warm, genuine and had the most wonderful laugh and smile. I am grateful to have known him, he made the world a better place just by being in it ❤

Thinking of all of you and sending all our love,

Maddy, Adam and Morris xo

I feel lucky to have met John. He is one of those people who inspires others with his positive, welcoming personality. The kind of person you secretly and consciously make a decision to try to be like... a leader, someone you look up to. I noticed his creative side - his love of gardening, cooking (excellent guacamole!) and I'm sure many other passions.

Wishing his family comfort in their loss. Wishing Peter support through his grief at this surreal time of isolation, knowing that John's spirit will guide him when he asks himself the question "What would John want?"

Uncle John had one of the most wonderful smiles that I have ever known. It was like a warm glow to be on the receiving end. I will miss you Unc❤️. My love and condolences go out to Aunt Joan, Peter, Steve, Cathy, Doug, Kay, Jane and all the grandkids.
