I had the privilege and pleasure of working for and with Lyman over many years...at CJAD in Montreal and in Toronto and Ottawa. He was a real gentleman who shared his vast knowledge and helped in the on-going development of radio broadcasting. In some ways, he was a mentor to me and many others who prospered in the broadcasting industry. We worked hard, but enjoyed what we did. Lyman was a self-made broadcasting historian and much of his knowledge was chronicled in the internet-based documents of the Canadian Communications Foundation. It was at Lyman's invitation that I made a contribution by writing the history of news broadcasting for the second half of the 20th century. He in turn wrote my biography. May his memory be for a blessing to his son Joel and all members of his extended family.
