Dear Agnes and John were the best next-door neighbours anyone could ask for over the best part of three decades.
They were always cheerful and friendly from day one when they moved in here a couple years after we did. They put up graciously with our racket, parties, boisterous kids (spraying them over the fence with the garden hose when they were too small to realize that wasn't necessarily so funny) and they would respond by giving the kids books to read and treated them kindly and cheerfully. Agnes gave Val nice pottery she had made and when John wanted to fix his eaves he came and politely asked if he could stand his ladder in our yard. 86 years old and up on a ladder for hours. John was a devoted husband who doted on Agnes and visited her after she fell ill even though he had his own physical health challenges. He did that for good reason - Agnes was always a very sweet and kind person and we loved having her and John as neighbours. Dear Bernie and family, we are very sorry for your loss in these troubling times.
