Obituary for Gladys Smith

Passed away after a brief illness at Macassa Lodge, Hamilton on Saturday, October 6, 2012 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Herbert Ralph Smith (1972). Predeceased by her parents Henry and Elizabeth (nee McCurdy) Tranter and brother Edward (1921). Survived by sister Mary Francis Dick, sons Bruce (Dale) Smith, Harry (Barbara) Smith, grandchildren Susannah, Paul (Soula), Erin (Ian), Erica (Kris), Sarah (Dan), great-grandchildren Logan, Max, Isaac, Gabe, Alex, Sam, Ruby and nephews Alan Dick and James (Janice) Dick. Born, raised and started her family in Hamilton, Gladys moved to Grimsby in 1961 and resided there for forty one years, enjoying many good friends, neighbours and her work as a Secretary for the Lincoln County Board of Education. She moved to Ancaster in 2003 to be closer to family, and entered Macassa Lodge early this year. Special thanks to Dr. Richard Seeley for his excellent care and advice, and to all the staff at Macassa Lodge for their many kindnesses. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. Interment Queen's Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to Macassa Lodge, Hamilton would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
