Passed away on August 20, 2013 in Burlington. Dear devoted husband of Janet for 57 years. Proud and loving father of John (Annette and family) of Canmore, Alberta, Alison (Joe) of Toronto, and Bruce (Jenny and family) of Guelph. Best uncle to many nieces and nephews. Graduated from Queen’s University in Chemical Engineering (class of ’55) and worked at Stelco for 33 years. An avid reader and correspondent. Predeceased by his parents and brothers Edwyn, Ernest, and George and sisters Violet and Gertrude. Jack will be missed by many dear close friends. The family would like to thank Dr. T. Cuddy, the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital and The Carpenter Hospice for their compassionate care. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block North of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will take place at Wellington Square United Church, 2121 Caroline Street, Burlington, on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Carpenter Hospice, CNIB or the charity of your choice.
