After a brief illness, Jim died peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of the late Jessie Dodds (nee Thompson). Jim is lovingly remembered by his children Carrie & Derek Collins and Andrew & Jennifer Dodds, grandchildren Meg, Joel, Ali, Jack, Amelia and James, as well as his sister Helen Dodds. As a physical education teacher with the Hamilton Board of Education, Jim touched the lives of both his colleagues and students. He will be remembered as a dedicated and inspirational coach who was universally respected and admired. A proud Hamilton boy, one of his most treasured memories was winning the football championship with the Hamilton Junior Wildcats in 1949. He lived a long and blessed life and we will miss his good humour and boundless love. The family is indebted to Dr. Keith Comeau for his extraordinary care and compassion and to the exceptional nursing staff at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital’s 5th floor ICU. At Jim’s request, a private family service will take place. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
