A Message from our Friends at The Bruce Trail:
Since 2015, as an expression of sympathy to the families we serve, Smith’s has been partnering with the Bruce Trail Conservancy by committing to the planting of memorial trees along the Bruce Trail as a lasting tribute to loved ones.
Every year, a unique indigenous tree is planted in the ‘Smith’s Memorial Grove’ that was established in 2016 along the Trail in both Burlington and Stoney Creek. These trees are symbolic of all the trees planted that year within this beautiful natural landscape, to honour and celebrate the lives of those we have served.
We invite you and your family to enjoy a leisurely stroll or active hike along the trail any time throughout the year, as you also take time to pause, remember and honour the memory of your loved one.
A new tree will be planted each year in our Memorial Groves, to symbolize the ongoing reforestation and preservation of nature along the Bruce Trail in memory of those we have been honoured to serve, and to offer some small comfort to all families in our communities who have lost loved ones.
We invite you to visit these sites (and other walks along the Bruce Trail) at your own leisure. Please see the maps below for the exact location of the trees in the Memorial Groves.
One grove is located at City View Park in Burlington (off Kerns Road), and the other is located at Paramount Park in Stoney Creek.
