Cecelia Carter (Smith)

"The Power of One..." My connection to "Miss Gorwill" dates back almost 60 years. I was a 14 year old freckle faced red head entering Grade 9 at T.A. Blakelock (Oakville). How lucky was I? My homeroom teacher was "Miss Gorwill." Being 14 - having red hair - and freckles wasn't easy! Miss Gorwill's impact on this teen was profound. My career has flourished - thanks to "The Power of One" - Ruth Gorwill. Our paths crossed on a number of occasions over the years. You see - I became a teacher - thanks to Ruth. It was a delight to share my story - my respect - my admiration for Ruth - with her dear brother Dick and family at the visitation. Ruth was "in a league of her own." Ruth Gorwill: teacher/coach/administrator/mentor - human being - extraordinaire!
