The good old days.....

I met Horace O'leary over 35 year ago, and I can not remember him doing anything but laughing or smiling.  We made many a "road" trip together taking race horses away to race all over North America. We had so much fun on those trips it seems like a crime.  One time we were in a restuarant in Ohio and the waitress came over to our table and looked us over, then she said, "it's not hard to see this is a father and son team". Well Horace immediately shot back, " and a good lookin boy he is, isn't he".  Now those of you that are related to or knew Horace are going to say did this guy ever even know Horace. He wasn't always laughing or smiling.  You are correct. He had a quick temper.  But I had the secret to getting him over that. I'd just laugh at him or call him a very "crude name" then watch him laugh at me and we carried on. I had 1000 foot basement that was a total mess. I was going to have to pay tons to get it all fixed up and ready to live in. Well Horace told me that if I would give him a free stall for life, that he would finish it for free.  I told him, take two stalls.  What a wonderful job he did on our basement.  I am truly going to miss that man.

Condolances to the entire O'Leary Family on your loss...
