Obituary for Walter Fernick

Walter, in his 83rd year, died suddenly on Friday, February 24, 2017, on vacation in Florida surrounded by his family. Predeceased by parents John and Irena, brothers Steve and Bill and brother-in-law Glen. Survived by sister Anne Doig. Walter shared 58 years with the love of his life Vera, proud father of Doug (Jeanette) and Deborah (Antony) and loving grandfather to Jennifer and James. Walter was raised in Grimsby and was a second generation grape farmer and owner operator of a successful long distance transport business. He was a hard-working person, who enjoyed life to the fullest with his family and many friends. A kind and caring man and a friend to all. The family is most grateful to Dr. Seeley for his excellent care over the years. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., where the Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 10 a.m. Interment Grimsby Mountain Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 127 Grimsby or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
