Obituary for Serge Jean Georges Mayeur

Serge Jean Georges Mayeur
MAYEUR, Serge

Serge was called home, peacefully, at the age of 75, on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He has rejoined his daughter Danielle (2001) in the light and joy of the fullness of God. He will be sorely missed by his wife Carolyn, his son Tim, and the many family members and friends who enriched his life and were there for him with love in his struggle with ALS and Parkinson’s. He accomplished much in his lifetime: a master teacher of French and Immersion in Halton, he coached over forty teams, established the first school Terry Fox runs, which raised over $100,000.00 over the years for cancer, pioneered late immersion in Halton, successfully refereed soccer and volleyball for thirteen years after retirement, and much more. Indeed, Serge touched so many lives positively. Private Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10:30am with reception to follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Serge would appreciate donations to Danielle’s Place in Burlington, or the ALS Clinic 4U (McMaster University Medical Centre).
