A Mentor Remembered

I am so saddened to hear of Mrs. Kirby's passing. My condolences to all affected. In short, she touched numerous lives with her generosity and teaching, including mine. I took lessons with Mrs. Kirby during high school and it really was my career kick start, even way back then. My love for art and design flourished and I would never have gained the confidence to move forward with that if not for her. Among the 'serious' side of lessons, there were always little memories that made the experience so much more: the wafer cookies we always had for snacks, the people we met that eventually became friends, and I can remember one day Mrs. Kirby bringing out a bunch of jewellery she didn't wear much anymore. She passed along to me a set of rose shaped earrings that I do treasure and wear to this day. All these things and more help shape those memories and experiences that we'll never forget. Although our paths haven't crossed for a while I do always think about you Mrs. Kirby, and always will. Miss you. Love Leslie xo
