Condolences

Condolence From: Sharon Yeoman (Lawrence)
Condolence: My Dad, Larry Lawrence (died in 1995), used to pit for Jimmy and he would have wanted me to send sincere condolences to the Howard family. Our family went to many races and got to know the drivers and their on and off track feuds. Always, Jimmy Howard vs. Ted Hogan. The number 38 was the very best! It seems like yesterday and the memories are all good. If the family is interested, I have my Dad's collection of old 8mm movies at the Howards and at the go cart track at Garry Whittaker's farm along with old black and white pics. Again, our sympathies and thanks for the memories Jimmy.

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing. We spent many memorable years racing together. He was a genius of a man when it came to building race cars... there wasn't anything he couldn't build, fabricate, weld...truly one of a kind and lucky to call him a friend. Our sincere condolences.

Condolence From: Sue Mancini
Condolence: To the Howard Family, my deepest condolences and sympathy on the passing of your Dad. The names Jimmy and Annette Howard were often mentioned by my Mom and Dad, Norma (deceased 2015) and Albert (deceased 1993) Arrowsmith as they reminisced about the good times they had on the Beach Strip. They spoke fondly of your Dad's passion for cars and racing and marvelled at his career accomplishments."There's an unbroken thread that is woven from love, and it keeps family always together, for nothing's as real as the moments we've shared, they live on in our memories forever." Let your precious memories guide you in the days to come. Sincerely, Sue Mancini

Condolence From: Bill Smith
Condolence: Sue
So sorry to hear Jim passed. I grew up two doors down from Jim and used to really enjoy going to the stock car races to see Jim race. He was a helluva driver and won a lot.
He was always cheerfully helpful when I took him a problem I had with my 39 chev in the 50s. He'd weld it or machine a part and get me back on the road, never would take any money. Jim said he could fix anything. And he could. It was seldom when I'd visit that he didn't have something torn apart in pieces on the cluttered bench. If I needed a tool or a special nut or spring, he'd have it in stock. And amazingly he'd know where it was!
I left the beach in '65 and returned in 2002 just two doors down from Jim. I really enjoyed visiting him in the shop a couple times a week for a sip or two. I prodded him to tell me stories of his racing days and of his duck hunting experiences with some of the old beach gunners. His memory was pretty fair considering. He mentioned names of beach residents that I had long forgotten. Jim always had a quick wit. And he liked to have a good laugh and a good time. I'll miss the old rascal.
