Condolences

Condolence From: Colleen (Manion) Huckstep
Condolence: My sincere condolences on the death of Paul. We were childhood friends and he would come over to our house so I could bake him something in my easy bake oven. I was so very fortunate to be reunited with him at the St Pius reunion this summer. May you rest in peace until we meet again.
The entire Manion family send their sincere condolences

Condolence: It was a shock to hear of Paul’s passing from Mom the other day; both Mom and Dad send their condolences. Paul, Mike M, and I spent most days together in our youth, with many interesting and exciting adventures: winter evenings when the snow was just right, summer evenings when the sun had long gone down, or when the water was warm. Remembering those years together – the swimming and cycling and walking and raspberries and apples – those were the days when we were invincible. Deepest condolences to Matthew, Andrew, Valerie, and Marilyn. Rest well, Paul.

Condolence: On behalf of myself and his co workers at Oakville Hydro, we wish to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to Valerie, his sons Matthew & Andrew, his sister Marilyn and his extended family.

Paul started at Oakville Hydro in 1988, and his first job there was in the Stockroom. It was only a short time later he began his apprenticeship as a Lineman. Over the following 4 years he attained his Journeyman Lineman status and eventually became Lead hand in the Underground dept. Recently, Paul celebrated his 30 years of service at Oakville Hydro and was looking forward to his retirement in the coming months.
Over those 30 years, Paul left an impression on all of us. It might be a cliche to say that we are part of the Oakville Hydro family, but in the Line dept, we are a tight knit group who looked out for each other, and Paul was a key team member always there to help anyone. However, Paul was also a "prankster" liked to play jokes on one another. Just a few weeks ago, upon returning to my truck I had found my gloves and safety glasses stuffed into my hard hat and all taped up like a mummy...Yes Paul had been up to his antics..Paul was also a "Foodie", loved food, loved to cook, share recipes, and knew or recommend all the best restaurants to try...His lunch bag was the size of a small suitcase full of awesome meals, always willing to share, or his humble way to brag about his cooking skills.
Paul was also a real chatterbox, social kind of guy. He loved to talk to people. He would strike up conversations and make you smile and laugh. He was a natural, because he always spoke from his heart.
So you can imagine, that once I and his fellow Lineman/dept had heard of Pauls unexpected passing, we were all hit pretty hard. For myself, I have known Paul at work and socially outside work for the 30 years and we worked side by side on projects big and small. We worked on the aftermath of the 1998 Ice storm in Ottawa, the 2012 Hurricane Sandy in New York, and he never stopped wanting the help out where he could. Paul was generous, kind and always had a good sense of humour. He was dedicated to his job, trade, friends and he loved his family.
Oakville Hydro, and especially the Line Dept mourn the loss of a member of our work family and friend. The fun times, great memories we have of Paul will never be forgotten.
Paul...you are a dear friend and brother to us...you will be missed dearly. May you rest in Peace.

Condolence: So very sorry for your loss. Although out of touch for many years, we have fond memories of Paul. First time we met Paul was playing paint ball, it was snowy and cold and he had a huge smile on his face the whole time. RIP Paul

Condolence From: John Maguire
Condolence: Cousin John Maguire here, shocked and saddened by Paul's premature passing, love and prayers for family left behind. My memories of Paul tend to be older, when I was a kid and he was a much cooler, older cousin who knew about life, and could share things with his younger cousins. Now every time I see the board game RISK, I joke that my older cousin Paul taught me the game, and "conveniently" bent the rules to his purposes, when you are 12 years old you just accept that those are the rules, and cousin Paul is hard to beat. No matter how cool Paul was I am sure it was not cool to have your aunt and uncle and 4 cousins come to live with you for a few days as a result of the great Mississauga train derailment of 1979, he couldn't have known of the memories we were creating.
This weekend my wife Martha (with "Auntie" Janet and Cousin Anne-Marie and daughter Claire) went to a play, that featured this truth: "Each man's life touches so many other lives, and when he isn't around, it leaves an awful hole". So it is with cousin Paul, he has left an "awful hole", thanks for the memories, Paul, sorry to see you go.

Condolence: I am deeply saddened to hear of Paul's passing. Val, my thoughts go out to you and the family. He had found peace with you and was so looking forward of retiring and continuing the adventures. We had great times at Pius, Black Lake and camping at McGowan's Lake. Long after I moved West in 1982 Paul would call ( at all hours!) to stay in touch. Rob Phillips
