It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a loving father, grandfather, and friend. After his battle with cancer, Bernie passed away on December 1st, 2017 at the age of 93 at Humber River Hospital. During the past week he was surrounded by many of his loved ones. He now reunites with his loving wife Margaret (nee Woodley) of 64 years. Bernard was a loving father to Paul (Paula), Linda (Donald), Glen (Janet), David (Sue), Keith (Diana), Darlene (Ken), Melvin, and Kelvin (Darlene). He will also be greatly missed by his twenty-six grandchildren, thirty- four great- grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Bernie had a love for life and never slowed down along side his loving companion Kay Haines. He was active in the Moose Lodge for many years where he spent a lot of time and made plenty of friends. He was a member of the Franklin Horner Senior Centre for many years. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, 4072 New Street, Burlington on Thursday, December 7 at 11 am.
