Becoming a Lifer at Tim Horton's

Rob graciously hired me at the age of 18 as a part time employee in Dunnville.  Once I learned the ropes of how things were to be done with many people helping me along the way I began to love my job and the people I worked with.  We would laugh so hard all day our stomachs would hurt by the time our shifts ended!  Sometimes I think Rob new all the pranks we did and how we hung out the drive thru window and handed customers 1 timbit in a 6 item bag and so much more but never said a word to us becuase he knew we would always get the job done by the end of the day!

When Rob took over the Smithville store he asked me if I would like to be a supervisor for him there.  I accepted the offer and it was not long after that he asked me if I would be willing to take on some more responsibilities.  I accepted again but had no idea those responsibilities were that of a store manager and I would become a Lifer at Tim Horton's.  After getting my high school diploma but not finishing college, somehow Rob trusted me at the age of 20 to run his store for him with zero training and gave me a opportunity of a life time.  I made many mistakes as I learned but he always was understanding and continued to help me and show me many things.  He encouraged me all the time and made me do things I thought I never could do in life.  I wasn't always the easiest employee to get along with and yet Rob put up with all my notes to him, quitting on him I don't know how many times and took the time to work things out with me over and over again.  Through it all we gained huge respect for each other.  He was a father like figure to me in many ways!  Always called me Blondie, was the first person to stop by and see my house I bought, he gladly took photos for us at our wedding, he and Lila took us out to a basketball game and out for supper.  Whatever I needed I always knew I could count on him.

At the age of 30 my husband and I were expecting our first child and my life changed.  I always wanted to stay at home with my kids and knew I wouldn't be able to be a store manager anymore.  Rob respected my decision and understood.  About 2 years ago I was ready for part time work.  I took a leap of faith and knocked on Rob's door and asked him if he would hire me back.  I explained to him that I needed my weekends off, Christmas and March breaks off, summers off and be able to get my kids on an off the bus.  (I know, alot to ask for!!!)   He immediately said to me, "Tina, anything you need!  You're hired!  Go to the store and talk to Michelle."  I know this was a answer to my prayers and am so grateful for my job at Tim Horton's.

Lila, Alex and Nick, I have always prayed for your family and will continue to do so especially with the sudden loss of such a wonderful husband and father.  He was a good man with such a big heart!  Tim Horton's will not be the same without him walking in!  I am going to miss him dearly!
