I grew up knowing that I was a part of the Anderson family. A large and widespread family. I grew up with an air of fascination because I had Uncles that lived in Canada. I didn’t know where Canada was, I simply knew it was the other side of the world and I probably would never get there. My blurred childhood memories remind me of Uncle Doug only vaguely, but that didn’t matter. I was immensely proud to announce to any one that would listen that I had Uncles, like film stars, that were courageous and adventurous enough to travel the globe. I never did get to Canada. It was only in recent times at the passing of Uncle Doug’s younger brother Bert, that Doug, his family and I really communicated. Despite the distance, I truly never forgot Uncle Doug and to me, he was always my family. I would like to send all my love to my wonderful family, on ‘the other side of the world’. Lots of love, Cheryl xx
