Obituary for Jeanne Wilson (Grassie)

WILSON, Jeanne (nee Grassie) 1929 - 2016
On Saturday, September 24th Jeanne passed away at Billings Court Manor in Burlington due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease in her 87th year. Pre deceased by her husband John. Beloved mother of Bill (Julie) of Mississauga, and Paul (Kim) of Burlington. Cherished and devoted grandmother of Melissa, Michelle, Michael, Karissa and Zachary, as well as six great grandchildren. Daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Grassie. Pre deceased by her brother Don. Jeanne grew up on the Hamilton Mountain. She was a graduate of McMaster University in Honours French and German in 1952. Jeanne taught French and German at Central Secondary School, and was Head of the Language Department at Delta Secondary School from 1966 to 1989 when she retired. Jeanne has always been an avid traveller and lover of live theatre. Jeanne was very proud of her two sons, Bill and Paul and adored all of her grandchildren, always encouraging them to get a good education. Jeanne will be sadly missed by her many friends and former students. Thanks to Billings Court Manor for their care and support over the last six years. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 12:00 pm followed by a Service of Remembrance held in the chapel at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
