You Aren't Alone

While the experience of grief can be very isolating, we would like to help you take steps to counter the feelings of loneliness and disconnection. While the articles in our grief library (see below) can make a difference in your day-to-day life, please do not hesitate to call us should you need additional support. The Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children

The Lighthouse is a safe place where grieving children, youth and families support each other as they move through their grief journey. The offer free and open-ended grief support programming, which means that families can use its services and resources for as long as they need to. Lighthouse also offers numerous free printable resources for children and families, which we've linked below for you to access.

Bereaved Families of Ontario - South Central Region

Bereaved Families of Ontario provides support for grieving children and parents in Burlington, Hamilton, the counties of Brant, Norfolk, Haldimand and the Niagara Region. They offer a number of support groups and educational programs, and the services are free and confidential.

Camp Keaton (Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice)

Camp Keaton Hamilton is a bereavement camp for children and teenagers, ages 7 to 17, grieving a significant death. Camp Keaton provides a traditional, fun and high-energy camp experience, combined with grief education and emotional support.
Through outdoor play and activities, empowering and supporting grieving children and youth.

The camp is staffed by bereavement counsellors and community volunteers professionally trained by child bereavement experts.

This year, the camp runs from Friday, June 9 - Sunday, June 11, 2023.  Camper applications must be completed and submitted by Friday, March 24, 2023.  Acceptance into the Camp Keaton Program will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

MyGrief.ca was developed by a national team of researchers, educators, health care providers and family members who have “been there”. It allows users to explore their grief from the comfort of their own home, at any time of day, and at their own pace. It is free for Canadians and confidential.
