Obituary for William Rymal Ofield


OFIELD, William Rymal, C.A. - After a long and productive life, now reunited with his beloved wife Dorothy (1998), Bill passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in his 87th year. Loving father of Carol Nie of Burlington and Anne Fenwick (Bill) of St. Catharines. Proud Papa of Heather Daly (Phil), Scott McRoberts, and Todd, Chad, Reid, Colin and Katelyn Fenwick. Fondly remembered by brother Ted Ofield (Chris), sister-in-law Lila Ofield and many cherished relatives and friends. Predeceased by sister Madeline. Bill was an elder and long standing member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Dundas, member of International Harvester Canada Managerial Retirees Club (Vice President of Finance), Past Master of Dufferin Lodge # 291 and member of the Scottish Rite Murton Lodge of Perfection. He was passionate about his work and was a lifetime member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. His many interests included Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club, Saugeen Golf Club, Southampton Tennis Club Board of Directors, Canadian Mental Health Association and V.O.N. Board of Directors, supporter of Burlington Teen Tour Band Boosters. Loyal Fan of the Hamilton Tiger Cats for over 40 years. Bill gave selflessly of himself to his family, friends and his profession and was a wonderful role model for his daughters and grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff of West Oak Village Long Term Care Centre who so kindly cared for Dad over the last two years. Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kirsten Lindner, emergency room staff and the nursing staff of 5 Centre and 4 West at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care. Visitation at SMITH`S FUNERAL HOME 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of QEW) BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Friday, January 28, 2005 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Masonic Service for Bill, Friday at 9 pm. at the funeral home. Private Interment, White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations to Burlington Breast Cancer Support Services or Knox Presbyterian Church, 23 Melville St., Dundas would be appreciated by the family. A Celebration of Bill`s life will follow in April 2005 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Dundas (905-627-3043).
