Obituary for William Mathias "Bill" Fisher

Bill Fisher of Grimsby, Ontario passed away suddenly after a long and happy life. Bill was the husband of Grace (nee McIntyre) for 59 years and father of Paul (Jane) Fisher of Calgary, Peter (Carol) Fisher of Greely and Kathy Joy (Andrew Williams) of Calgary. Proud grandfather of Craig, Hilary, Erin and Dana Fisher. Dear brother of Betty Steele of Vancouver and the late Margaret Nutting, Madeline Lambert, Kay Tufford and Ted Fisher. Uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Grimsby and resided here for 88 years. He was a fixture on Main Street for 48 years owning a successful insurance and real estate business. He was heavily involved in the community as Chairman of the Recreation and Parks Department, a member of the Lion Club, coach of minor hockey (The Rockets) and sponsor of numerous sporting teams throughout the years. During his entire life, Bill was an active member of Trinity United Church. His sense of humour, sunny disposition, historical recollection of Grimsby and love for the town, will be missed by many. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 2, 2015, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held at Trinity United Church, 100 Main Street West, Grimsby, on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., with reception to follow. If desired, donations to Trinity United Church in Bill's memory would be appreciated.
