Obituary for William J. (bill) Cooke


Cooke, William Jacob ( Bill )

At his home in Burlington, Ontario on Thursday, May 12, 2005 in his 74th year. Loving husband of Louise Cooke (nee Oates). Cherished father of Daryl Chlebus and her husband David, Debra Cooke, David Cooke and his wife Frances and Donna Lee Hall (Bruce). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Sterling, Myles, Remington, Jack and Kyle. Dear brother of Barry Cooke and his wife Rhoda. Predeceased by his first wife Mary Elizabeth Gray (2000) and his parents Jacob and Elizabeth Cooke. Bill was Past President of the National Concrete Products Association of Canada, Past Director of the National Concrete Masonry Association of the United States, and the Ontario Ready Mix Concrete Association. He served as President of the Rotary Club of Burlington (1961-1962 ), was honoured with a Paul Harris Fellowship (1981), is a member of the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians - where he was the first Commodore of the Rotary Lake Ontario Fleet, and The Antique and Classic Boat Society. Bill is a Benefactor of the Rotary Foundation and since joining Rotary he has had 53 years of 100% attendance.

Visitation at the SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. A celebration of Bill's Life will be held at Wellington Square United Church, 2121 Caroline Street, Burlington on Monday, May 16th, 2005 at 2 p. m. Cremation with interment to follow later at Greenwood Cemetery, Burlington. Expressions of sympathy to The Rotary Club of Burlington - Centennial Project would be sincerely
appreciated by the family.
