Obituary for Vivian Matton

Vivian Matton
Matton, Vivian Lillian (nee Tuck)
Vivian ended her earthly journey on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in her 90th year. Vivian will be missed greatly by her daughter Marilyn Flook, son-in-law Ron, grandchildren David, and wife Becky, Jennifer, Jonathan, Cassandra, and her great-grandson Maddox Ernie. Born in Grenfell, Saskatchewan, Vivian served in the Royal Canadian Air Force where she met her husband of 57 years, Ernie Matton. They eventually settled in Grimsby, serving their beloved town in numerous ways for 40 years. Vivian was an active member of Trinity United Church, Grimsby, participating in many women's groups, and founding the "Vivian Matton" library, encouraging children to experience the joy of reading, with her amazing puppets. With Ernie, Vivian was involved in running the Grimsby Festival of Art for 37 years. Never one to sit idle Vivian pursued countless interests and achieved excellence in her gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting and crafts. Vivian was passionate about animal rights and loved her dogs and cats very much. She was diligent and persevering, facing every obstacle in life with dogged determination and without complaint. Her joy was in "doing". Vivian's strength and courage will always serve as an inspiration to her family. We would like to thank the exceptional staff of Tansley Woods LTC for providing truly amazing care. They gave Vivian love, companionship, fun, and dignity. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held at Trinity United Church, 100 Main Street, West on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 1 p.m. Interment Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby. If desired, donations to Trinity United Church library would be appreciated.
