Obituary for Thomas James Hayes

Thomas J. Hayes
1945 - 2006

We announce with deep sadness the passing of Thomas James Hayes, peacefully at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington on Friday, February 3rd, 2006. Cherished husband of Janet Hayes (McLean), and beloved son of the late James and Edith. Hayes.. Mourning the loss of a dear father, father-in-law and grandfather are son Stephen his wife Stephanie and children Isaac and Ronan, son Daniel, and daughter Meredith. Also grieving are his mother-in-law Kathleen McLean, and his brothers and sisters and their families: Michael and Daphne Hayes, David Hayes and Jennifer Nicol, Mary and Brian Gainham, Betty and Bob St. Pierre, Kathy and Andrew Nicol, and Jim and Maureen Hayes. Tom will be sadly missed by his in-laws Ken and Sheila McLean, Doug and Karen McLean, and their families. As an addiction counsellor with The St. LeonardÂ’s Society of Hamilton, Tom helped many clients over the years and was a supportive and caring colleague to his co-workers. Tom was a loving family man and a loyal friend to many. He will be missed by his friends in The Fellowship Group in Bronte - especially his loyal golfing companions. Tom will be remembered as a deeply spiritual man, with a wonderful sense of humour. By taking care of each other, we will keep his spirit alive and honour our memories of Tom's kindness, laughter, joy and love. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), Burlington on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm, where the Funeral Service will be conducted Friday, February 10, 2006 at 11 am with Tom's childhood friend and schoolmate Father Charles Galea officiating.

Tom and the family received loving care at Carpenter Hospice in Burlington for five months.
