It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stefan at the age of 74. Stefan passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, with his family by his side. Dearly loved by his wife Maria (Mimi) for 42 years. Cherished father of Dennis and Leon and his wife Sindy. Special Atta of Teá, Nia, Stefan and Sofia (Sophie). Stefan came to Canada from Slovenia on October 24, 1964. He will be missed by family and friends in Slovenia and Germany. Stefan took pleasure in making Slovenian alpine miniature homes. He enjoyed reading, gardening and Slovenian polka music. He was a retired employee of National Steel Car, where he worked for 32 years. A proud Slovenian and devoted family man, he was happiest among those he loved, especially his grandchildren who always put a smile on his face. You will never be forgotten and Boxing Day will never be the same. Special thanks to everyone on the ICU - Wards East and South at Hamilton General Hospital for all of your care. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Sunday from 2-8 pm., with Prayer Vigil at 4:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Fa. Charles Galea and Rev. Fa. Drago Gacnik at Incarnation of our Blessed Lord Roman Catholic Church, (Nash Road and Barton Street), Hamilton, on Monday, January 31, 2011, at 9 am. Interment Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
