DIONNE, Ronald John,

With much sorrow after an eight month battle with cancer we announce the passing of Ron on December 15, 2010 at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington. Beloved husband of Sheila Rose (nee McGarrity) in their 46th year of marriage. Devoted son of the late Earl and Julia Dionne of Perth Andover, New Brunswick. Dearest father of Edward (Judith), John (Crystal), Julie (James), Kerry, Mathew (Kathy), and Danielle. Ron's pride and joy were his ten beautiful grandchildren, Samara, Patrice, Katelyn, Courtney, Kennedy, Madigan, Julia, Kristin, Jacob and Emma. Predeceased by his siblings Adelaide, Leo, and Emily. Survived by his sisters Theresa, Rita, and Betty-Anne and his brothers Lewis, Alex, Robert and William. Ron was born and raised in Perth Andover, New Brunswick. He was a dedicated and well respected teacher in Hamilton, Sudbury and Mississagua. He was very proud to be a Fourth Degree member with the Knights of Columbus. He was very active in most ministries at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Burlington, as well as Saint Patrick's Parish in Caledonia. He dedicated himself endlessly to his faith and his family. The family will receive friends at Smiths Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street on Thursday, December 16 from 6-9 p.m. and Friday, December 17 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 287 Plains Rd. E., Burlington on Saturday, December 18, at 10 a.m. For anyone wishing to make a memorial donation, a gift in Ron's memory may be made to the Carpenter Hospice.
