Obituary for Robert Edward Hooper

Robert Edward Hooper
HOOPER, Robert Edward-
Surrounded by his loving family and caregiver Raquel on Thursday, March 25, 2010 Bob passed on to be with his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret and his youngest son John. He was a loving and cherished father to Coralie (Alan) Kirby, Jane (Art) Ramsay, Robert (Diane) Hooper, William (Susan) Hooper, Catherine (Dan) Thomas, Margaret Bury, and Virginia (Steve) Cummings. He was a very special and loving grandfather to 18 grandchildren and to 14 great-grandchildren who will all miss his big smile and Dabba dabba doos. He also leaves behind a sister Merle Bright, sisters â€"in law Helen Rous, Helen Fagan and a special brother-in law Reg Bowen. His many nieces and nephews will also fondly remember him. Bob was in the RCAF during the 2nd world war and served as a gunner. He also worked at Avro on the avionics and had patents on parts of the Avro Arrow and the CF 100. He was very involved with politics and was a councillor in Oakville for many years and was very involved with the Oakville Kiwanis. He was a lifetime member of the Oakville club and a past president, as well as a contributing member to the Casselberry club in Orlando. He was also presented with the Diamond Level Osborne award. He was the founder and past president of Sandtron Automation, Rechner Electronics and HTM which when he retired he left and entrusted to his sons and son-in-law. He started the business in his home with his son-in-law Art and with their hard work it grew into a major business, which he was very proud of. There are many people the family would like to thank for the wonderful help and support we have received over the last few years to keep Dad in his own home. The care workers, Margaret, Pam, Ashley and Gema who where there daily to attend to him, Dr. Martha Graham who was always there for us and for him, Jane our weekend angel, Delta and most of all our very special angel and the one we will ever be indebted to for her love and care above and beyond the call of duty Raquel (we know there is a special place in heaven some day for you). Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of QEW) BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Wednesday 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. where Funeral Service will be held on Thursday April 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception at the Funeral Home.
