Obituary for Raymond Emile Constantin

Raymond Emile Constantin
CONSTANTIN, Raymond -

Raymond, a man who was loved by all who met him, passed away peacefully with family by his side, at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the age of 85. Raymond (our dear Papa) courageously fought his battle with cancer never losing hope, with true dignity and steadfast faith. Loving husband of Caroline (nee Degagné) for 64 years. Cherished father of Suzanne Colasimone (Ray), Michelle Constantin (Albert Rutledge), and Robert Constantin (Laurie). Proud grandfather of Nicole (Andrew), Carly, Jason, Angela (Jason), Robin (Robyn), and Julie, and great-grandfather of Sophia, Shea, and Casey. Dear brother of Dr. Laurent Constantin, Gerald Constantin (Patricia), Gilbert Constantin (Claudette), and Gisele Barrow (Ken). Raymond will also be missed by extended family, numerous friends, the Knights of Columbus and members of St. Phillipe Roman Catholic Church, and members of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church. Raymond was employed by The CNR from 1951 to 1986 which took him from North Bay to Hornepayne and then to Capreol where he raised his family and went on to retire. He relocated to Burlington and has resided here for his last 29 years. Raymond was a great musician capable of playing many instruments, entertaining all those who had the pleasure of hearing him, especially with his fiddle. One of Papa’s GREATEST joys was being the chef and main entertainer at Camp Grumpy, Anstice, Ontario with all of his buddies. A special thank you to Dr. Ben Carruthers and Dr. Joe Korkis, nurses Karen and Carrie from St. Elizabeth’s, and the staff of The Carpenter Hospice for the excellent care that Raymond received. Private Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church (196 Kenwood Avenue, Burlington), on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 12:30pm. Private Family Interment to follow. Reception to be held at the Burlington Golf and Country Club (422 North Shore Blvd E, Burlington) following the Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond’s memory to The Carpenter Hospice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
