SHEEHAN, Patrick (Pat/Paddy)
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Pat at Joseph Brant Hospital on Wednesday, March 9th, in his 75th year, with his ever loving wife Gayle (DeBoer) of 46+ years of wonderful marriage at his side. Pat will be sadly missed and forever cherished by their children Kelly and her husband Dr. Craig Paszt; Dennis and his wife Leanne; and Kevin. Special Opa of Aidan and Erin Paszt; Abby and Ryan Sheehan; and Evin Sheehan. Son of the late Cornelius and Anne Sheehan of Dagenham, Essex, England. Special brother of Johnny (Isa); and Phyllis Brownsdon. Predeceased by his sister Mary Smith and brother Neil, both of Essex, England and brother-in-law Stan Brownsdon of Rockwood, ON. Much loved son-in-law of Phyllis and the late Jerry DeBoer of Mount Hope, ON. Cherished brother-in-law of Carolyn & Norm Ewart, Sharon Conron and Jaye & Ted Wooldridge. Special Uncle Pat to many nieces and nephews. Pat emigrated to Canada in 1965, then a long distance trucker, switching that role later to heavy truck sales, then to owning and operating SHEEHAN’S TRUCK CENTRE on Harvester Road in Burlington (Volvo). Upon his retirement on New Year’s Eve 1999, the business was passed to his children. Pat leaves many cousins in Ireland – Denis & Siobhan Barrett & family of Carrightowhill; John & Sheila Barrett & family of Togher; Kevin & Ester Dennehy & Family of Rathduff; Mary-Theresa & John Linehan & family of Mallow, all of Co. Cork; Carmel Flynn & family of Shinrone; Madeleine Shevlin of Birr, Co. Offaly; as well as Marion and the late Tom Barrett & family of Vancouver; and his family and many friends in England. He also leaves behind many friends in Corravoley/Lisheen & Ballydehob in West Cork, Ireland where he had a second home; friends in Fort Myers, FL at his winter home and the Dowding family of Vancouver. Pat was very outgoing and had many friends in Canada as well as former co-workers and employees. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff and Doctors at Joseph Brant Hospital including Dr.Opavsky, Dr. Courtney Field, Dr. Comay, Dr. Kumaranayake, Dr. Phillips, Dr. Chris Lelievre and Dr. Dennis Brodie. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light North of QEW) in Burlington (905-632-3333). Visitation Tuesday, March 15th from 5-8pm; Wednesday, March 16th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church (2261 Parkway Dr., Burlington) on Thursday, March 17th at 11:30 am followed by Internment at Lowville Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Patrick may be made to Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation or Carpenter Hospice.
