Surrounded by love - Monica passed
away peacefully November 6, 2010,
after months of illness, always
buoyed by the kindness and joy of
her friends and family. Born in
Winnipeg, Monica spent her life in
Burlington and attended Hillfield
Strathallan College. A graduate of
the Chamberlain School of retailing
in Boston, her career included work
with Harry Rosen and managing
Abercrombie & Fitch in Toronto.
Monica partnered with her Dad
and had taken over the reins at
Scrivener's Men's Apparel in
Burlington. Monica volunteered
throughout the community and
always added a creative touch and
inspiring ideas. Monica loved her
nieces, gardening, entertaining,
painting, curling ,her BEN network
group and travels. Monica will be
forever missed by her parents
Bernard and Elaine, her sister Yvette
and family; Allan, Lainey and Jae
Barnfield, her aunt Carole, cousins
Glen (Kelly, Sloane, Tristan), Kate
(Rich, Hudson, Ashleigh), Colin, and

Wednesday 7-9 p.m. Cremation has
taken place. A service to celebrate
Monica's life will be held for
family and friends on Thursday,
November 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at
St. Luke's Church, 1371 Elgin St.,
Burlington. A reception will follow
at the Burlington Golf & Country
Club. Heartfelt thanks to the staff
and volunteers at Carpenter Hospice,
Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital,
St. Joseph's Healthcare and
Hamilton General Hospital. In lieu
of flowers Monica asked that
donations be made to Carpenter
Hospice, Burlington Art Centre or
charity of choice.
