Obituary for Mary Ann Lindsay

Lindsay, Mary Ann-
1947-2011-

Suddenly at home in Grimsby, at the age of 64. Loving wife of Jim for 35 years. Proud and dotting mother of Victoria and Andrew. Mary Ann is predeceased by her infant daughter Rachael and by her parents Anne and Bill Katernuk. Dear sister of Kathy Linschoten (John) and Alec Katernuk (Nora). Sadly missed by her mother-in-law Barbara Lindsay and sister-in-law Susan Carpenter (Greg). Loved aunt of Tricia, Robert, Mark, Emma, Emily, Christine and Chris. Mary Ann was a long time teacher for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (retired 5 years). She touched the lives of many children as a consummate primary Teacher and Learning Resource Teacher. She was a graduate of McMaster University (B.A.), Niagara University (MSc.Ed.) and Hamilton Teacher's College. Mary Ann was a valued member of Saint Andrew's Anglican Church in Grimsby. A member of the church choir for many years, she served in many capacities: Lay reader, Parish Council, Church School Director and was always willing to help in any capacity. Mary Ann loved to travel and since retiring had visited Southeast Asia, Egypt/Jordan and most recently retuned from a wonderful trip to Roatan. Her personal favourite however, was Alaska. She enjoyed attending Tai Chi sessions in Beamsville with Sensei Fraser, volunteering with the Grimsby Benevolent Fund and the breakfast program at Lake Avenue School. The family owes their gratitude to the Doctors, nurses and paramedics at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and Hamilton General Hospital for your expertise and compassion. Mary Ann's wish was to be cremated (following organ donation). Visitation will take place at Saint Andrew's Anglican Church, 156 Main Street West, Grimsby, on Thursday from 6-9 pm, where the Service of Remembrance will take place Friday, April 15, 2011, at 2 pm., followed by a reception in the Church Parish Hall. Private interment at Fifty United Church Cemetery, where she will rest with Rachael, will take place prior to the Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Grimsby Benevolent Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society or St. Matthew's House, would be appreciated.
