Obituary for Margaret Anne Taylor

Margaret Anne Taylor
TAYLOR, Margaret Anne -

It is with great sadness, that the family and friends of Margaret Anne Taylor announce her unexpected passing at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the age of 65. Predeceased by her parents William Clarence and Ruth Brown Taylor. Loving sister of Don Taylor (Patricia), aunt of Jennifer McKee (Tony) and her children Jordan and Brian. Survived by her aunt Betty and cousins; Sharon, Bruce and Maureen Miller. She will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as an extraordinary number of friends. Margaret spent her adult life in teaching and union work. She was a passionate advocate for the rights of elementary teachers, a skilled bargainer at the negotiating table and a generous friend to all who knew her. For the past 12 years of her career she was a Senior Negotiator with FWTAO and ETFO. For a number of years she was the Registrar for the Central Ontario Christian Ashram and gave inspirational testimony. Margaret, like her parents, was a long time faithful member of Asbury and West where she gave generously of her time and talent. In retirement, she divided her life between homes in Burlington and Florida. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, (905-632-3333), on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Asbury and West United Church, 3180 Bathurst Street, North York, (just north of Lawrence), on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 1:00pm, with reception to follow at the church. Private Cremation has taken place. Private interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, to be held at a later date. If desired, donations in Margaret’s memory to a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
