Obituary for Linda Ann Publicover

PUBLICOVER, Linda Ann-
69, of Burlington, born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully in hospital following a 3-year battle with melanoma on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Vera (Oickle) Wile. Linda worked as a medical secretary for 20 years, she loved and cared deeply for her patients. Linda was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher. Mom particularly enjoyed volunteering for the Burlington Figure Skating Club teaching the little children to skate. Her pride and passion were her family, gardens and home. Linda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ross Leon Publicover; daughter Vicke Ann (Paul) Cantlon, son Stephen Leon Publicover and his partner Lorraine; grandchildren, Christopher Paul Cantlon, Breanne Vera Cantlon, and Jason Ross Cantlon. Mom will be dearly missed by all of us. Predeceased by brothers, Max, Leslie and Buddy (Daniel) Wile, sisters Edith Hoyt-Gillingham, Betty Northrope and her beloved sister Lena Smith. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall) BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Friday 7-9 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3455 Lakeshore Road, Burlington on Monday September 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. A private family memorial will take place at Bayview Cemetery at a later date. Special thank you to Dr. Tozer and his team at Juravinski Hospital and the Acclaim Home Care nurses, you were fantastic. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation or Holy Cross Lutheran Church would be sincerely appreciated.
