Obituary for Kathryn Jack

JACK (Wyshniowsky), Kathryn Helen-

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Kathy passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Hamilton General Hospital, with her devoted husband and loving family members at her side. Despite her many health challenges in recent years, Kathy continued to love life and live it to the fullest with fierce determination. Born in Stratford, Ontario, on July 3, 1945, Kathy was the eldest child of the late Robertson (Bob) and Kathleen Jack. Her childhood was spent in Millbank, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario and Althouse College of Education. She went on to teach French at Grimsby Secondary School for 33 years, culminating her career as head of the Modern Language Department. Kathy is survived by her husband, Wally Wyshniowsky, and her brothers, Donald (Colleen), Gordon (Margaret) and Bill (Kate). She will also be fondly remembered by her Aunt Marion Borthwick, her cousins, her many nieces and nephews, her great nieces and nephews, and her special friends "Les Girls." The family thanks her family physician Dr. Odea, and Drs. Cybulsky, Sawchuk and Chan and the medical staff in the ICU unit at Hamilton General Hospital. They also thank Dr. Marshall, Maureen O'Connor and the Niagara West Palliative Care Team in Grimsby. A special thanks to Kathy's Rise Above It Team (RAIT) for their support and prayers. A gathering to celebrate Kathy's life will be held at 11 am on Sunday, March 20, at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755). A reception will follow at 1 pm at The Innsville, 1143 Highway 8, Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Niagara West Palliative Care Team, 169 Main St. E, Grimsby ON L3M 1P3.
