Joy W. Solvason
SOLVASON, Joy Winnifred (nee Crooks)
February 15, 1932 â€" July 4, 2010
Joy passed away peacefully, on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Kristjan Richard "Dick" (2003). Joy is survived by her son Ronald (Marie) of Grimsby and daughter Lynn (Russell Pastuch) of Ottawa and grandchildren Krista, Stacey (David Sestric), Lindsay, Kristjan and Kristine. She was predeceased by her sister Gladys (Warren Missen) and survived by sister Evelyn (Ron Desharnais) and brother Stan (Pat). Joy and Dick resided in Ottawa where Dick worked for the National Research Council. After Dicks retirement they wintered in Arizona for many years before settling in Grimsby. Joy loved playing cards, debating politics and the neighbourhood Wine and Cheese Parties. As her name suggests, she brought joy to everyone she came in contact with. She was a volunteer for many years at the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and became well know for her bacon and tomato sandwiches. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Weatherdon, the nurses and staff of C Ward at WLMH, Dr. Marshall and the palliative care staff, the CCAC staff and especially nurse Jamie for the care, comfort and compassion shown during this time. Memorial visitation will be at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB- FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, in lieu of flowers donations to the West Lincoln Memorial Auxillary would be appreciated by the family.
