Obituary for Joseph Gaudet

GAUDET, Joseph Peacefully, at age 77, at Bethell House in Caledon, Ontario, following a courageous battle with cancer. Raised in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and retired from a long and proud career at Ontario Hydro, Joe was a passionate photographer, a teacher and mentor, a selfless volunteer, a traveller. And for many years, a dedicated usher at Cathedral of Christ the King in Hamilton, Ontario. Joe was the son of Henry and Irene, dear brother of Theresa Gaudet, Larry Gaudet and Elizabeth Gustafson. Predeceased by brothers Jerry, Paul and Jim. Loving father of Gregory (Barbara Pidcock), Mark (Ericka Luis) and Michele Cole. Tremendously proud grandfather of Ryan, Hilary, Maxwell, Harrison, Katherine, Andrea, Ethan and Destiny. He is already dearly missed by his family and a wide circle of loving friends who extend deep thanks to everyone involved in his care. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block North of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday from 6-9 p.m., with Vigil Prayers at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at Cathedral of Christ the King, 714 King St. W., Hamilton on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to his beloved Burlington Art Centre or to Hospice Caledon would be greatly appreciated.
