Smye, John Maurice (1942-2010)
Passed peacefully with family by his side at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, on Sunday, May 9, 2010. John was the eldest of a large and loving family. He leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend of 46 years, Shirley (nee Meikle). He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Michelle Hughes (husband Chris, sons Andrew & Robbie), Carol-Suzanne Little (husband Doug, daughters Stephanie, Kristen, new baby Ashley and son Tyler), and son Craig. Siblings; David (Pam), Vicki (Gary), Steven (Judy), Martin (Jan), and Mark (Michelle). Step-brothers and sister, Paul Tomlinson (Barb), Peter (Elwin), Phillip, and Francess Cheek (Tom). Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW) BURLINGTON, (905-632-3333) on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial for close family and friends will be held at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club, on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in John's honor to the Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, ON www.thecarpenterhospice.com.
