IRISH, JOAN SUSAN (nee Crawford) 1936-2011
With the love of her family surrounding her, Joan passed away in Toronto on January 12, 2011. Beloved wife of 54 years to Reg and mother of Jonathan (Rosemary Martino) and Jennifer (Keith Christie). Predeceased by son Mark. Caring grandma to Matthew, Brendan and Liz and grandmama to Colin and Cameron. For many years, Joan was a passionate elementary school teacher for which she received much recognition. Throughout her life, Joan was an active community volunteer. She was a prolific expert knitter, trivia whiz and dedicated to business news and watching the stock market. Most of all, Joan was a loving wife and proud mother. Her wit, strength and insight will be dearly missed. The family wishes to thank their neighbours and friends who have been so supportive during this time and to thank the doctors and nurses at the Princess Margaret Hospital for their care. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Joan's life at St Luke's Anglican Church, 1371 Elgin St., Burlington on Sunday, January 23nd at 2 pm with reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Donations to the Mark Irish Memorial Scholarship Fund (Irish Family Fund) for the support of the arts and culture in her hometown of Burlington would be appreciated by the family.
