Obituary for Iris Violet Scott (Liebig)

Iris Violet Scott (Liebig)
Scott, Iris (nee Liebig)

Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, on Tuesday, March 21, 2016, in her 90th year. Iris was the beloved mother of Christine Thompson, and proud grandmother of Nicole Thompson (Omar Bran) and Natalie Thompson (Andrew Reeson). She will be dearly missed by her sisters Betty Blackford, Florence Jones and Ethel Ross, nieces Lisa Blackford, Jacqueline Schwartz, and nephew Kurtis Blackford. Predeceased by sisters Doris Kearney and Brenda Cook. Iris courageously immigrated to Canada at the age of 80, where she brought her gardening skills and took up new pastimes, such as knitting, painting, and playing cards with her euchre friends. An avid reader, Iris spent many hours engrossed in a good book, but still found time to travel the world with family and friends. As per Iris' wishes, cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, Burlington, on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 1 pm. Reception to follow at the funeral home. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Iris to a charity of one's choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
