Obituary for Howard George Brown

Howard George  Brown
Passed away peacefully in the arms of his daughter on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in his 94th year. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Bernice, who passed away in 1998. Howard was loved and adored by his daughter Cheryl Baker (Michael). Loving and proud grandfather of Laura (Steve), Steven (Susan) and David. Cherished Uncle to Bruce Miller (Linda), Robert Wallwork (Joan) and Bernice Vair. Great Uncle and Great-Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by Cheryl's sister-in-law Sue Korobkin. Howard was born and raised in Hamilton and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII. He retired after 30 years with Dofasco as a foreman in the Blast Furnace Mechanical. He enjoyed summers at his cottage at Sauble Beach where he had met his wife. They were married in 1951 and later moved to Burlington in 1960 where they raised their daughter. He loved his home, gardening, boating, and was an avid backyard bird watcher. He was a member of Port Nelson United Church. He loved and respected his son-in-law Michael Baker whom he shared a special bond with and enjoyed puttering together. Howard was kind, compassionate and respected by all who knew him. He loved life and most of all his family. He will be remembered as a generous man who always put others first. He was honest, hardworking and was truly a gentleman. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the ICU staff for the care and compassion during this difficult time. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON(905-632-3333), on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 where a Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:30 am. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Howard to the Lung Association would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
