Hilda Root celebrated her 89th birthday on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 and later that evening passed away peacefully at Creek Way Village, Burlington, with her family at her side. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Julia St. Jean, granddaughters; Danielle Turvey (Steven) and Lindsay, great-granddaughters; Alexia and Cameron Turvey, sisters; Helen Coghill and Henrietta MacGregor, brother David Plain and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings; Joyce Plain, Muriel Steele and Ronald Plain. Hilda retired after 30 years of service with Canada Customs. Cremation has taken place. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton, on Friday April 1, 2011 at 11:15 a.m. followed by a visitation at Appleby United Church, 4407 Spruce Ave., Burlington from 12 noon until a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. with a reception at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Burlington Humane Society or Nelson Youth Centre would be appreciated by the family.
