Obituary for Helen Storrie

STORRIE, Helen Jane Burnett
On October 23, 2010, Helen was reunited with her beloved husband Bill (2002). Cherished mother and friend to Dr. Jane Storrie (Gord Leclair) and Jennifer Lindeman (Stephen). Proud and loving grandmother of Sarah, Zachary, Rachel, and Emma Lindeman, and Alexandria and Bryan Leclair. Helen was predeceased by her birth parents, Jane and Alexander Burnett, her sisters Alma and Eleanor, her adoptive parents Mary and George Ford, and her brothers, George, Jim, Stewart, and David.
Born in Dundee, Scotland, Helen was raised in Carnoustie, where her father was the Head Groundskeeper of what was, in her opinion, the best golf course in the world. She met her handsome "Sailor" aboard ship as they both set out for Canada. Helen had many dear friends and she was loved by all who knew her. She had a twinkle in her eye, a ready smile and a quick wit. Helen loved to laugh, sing and dance; she was a long-time member (and Social Convener) of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society's Burlington branch. Helen was intelligent, compassionate and took a keen interest in the welfare of others. Our parents' dedication to their family was as steadfast as our memories will be of them.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall) BURLINGTON, (905-632-3333) on Friday, October 29, 2010, from 7 to 9 pm. A private family interment will follow. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hamilton Brain Injury Association (HBIA) or to the Brain Injury Association of Peel and Halton (BIAPH). Heartfelt appreciation is extended to family, friends, and colleagues for their support.
"In an old Scottish home that is dear to my mind, lives an old Scottish mother, so gentle and kind. Trouble and care may have wrinkled her brow, but with thoughts sweet and tender, I think of her now." McKay & Maxwell
