Peacefully and with dignity at the Brant Centre in Burlington Harold passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in his 89th year. Survived by loving wife of 62 years, Ivy Porter (nee Smith), sister Shirley Porter-Johnson (Ted) of Toronto, sister-in-law Rena Porter, and nieces and nephews; Anne Boylan, Linda Timmins, Mark Woodley, Susan Cadeau, Virginia Porter, Joanne Baker, Jeff Porter, Diane Martin and Donald Porter, special friends Margaret Leyland and Christine Honsberger, and the Leyland family; Tom (Shelagh), Steve (Jean), Doug (Cathy). Predeceased by parents, Charles Francis "Frank" and Elizabeth Porter, sisters Reta Bolver (Bill), Eileen "Mickey" Stevens (Arnold), Lorraine Woodley (Morris), Barbara Anne Bartek (Otto), and brothers Charles "Bud" (Betty), John, and Thomas.
Harold retired from Firestone as a Systems Analyst and was a longtime member of St. George's Church, Hamilton and St. Luke's Anglican Church, Burlington. He loved organizing sports at Firestone especially baseball and golf, was past vice president of Burlington Lawn Bowling, initiated the Silver Sliders mens golf and was a member of Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club and Burlington Golf and Country Club. Harold and Ivy enjoyed extensive travel at home and abroad.

Harold kept his sense of humour to the end, he was "bright and sunny, just like the weather." A special thank you to the staff at the Brant Centre, first floor, for all their kindness and support.

Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 12:00 NOON until the time of Service of Remembrance at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
